Home Custodes won easily the final game over Glasgow Clydesiders and after three annuals dominated by teams from overseas the tournament trophy stays home in Radotín.
Custodes journey to the final was not easy. They won their round-robin group, beating Slovak Nationals and their final rival Clydesiders, then won over Istanbul Sultans but already in quarter-final they matched last year champion Alberta Warriors. The Custodes were able to tie the game and won the shoot-out – Dominik Pešek and Raddek Skála scored, goalie Jakub Mareš on the other side stopped Canadian shooters.
Pioneers – another Canadian team – was waiting Custodes in the semi-final. Custodes play was very disciplined and concentrated and Jakub Mareš was starring in the goal again. And it was him who confirmed Custodes victory with a goal to open cage over the whole pitch during Pioneers final power-play.
Glasgow Clydesiders were certainly the tournament biggest surprise. They matched Czech TJ Malešice and SK Lacrosse Jižní Město on their play-off journey. Then they matched Finnish Turku Titans in their semi-final and won 5:3.
The final game was no drama. Custodes scored 9 goals in the first period and although they slowed down in the last period they controlled the game and won 15:7.
