All round-robin games were completed on Thursday and there were couple of surprises. Despite the expectations Bratislava Bats, London Knights and Nova Scotia Privateers will play in final eight while Oxygen Lacrosse Riggers, Salt Shakerz and TJ Malešice drew the short straw.

Group A
The day started off with the London Knights playing their first game of the tournament against SK Jizni Mesto. The Prague side was too strong for the Knights, running to a 9-1 score. Šimon Pecka scored three goals. The Knights then earned their first victory against the Vienna Cherokees. Jamie Tasko and Will Walker both had a goal and an assist in the win, while 18-year-old Jakub Mareš was solid in the Knights’ goal.
The third game of the day was between TJ Malešice and the Knights and the play of Mareš was the story in a very entertaining game. The young Czech goalie made 28 saves and earned a shutout in a 3-0 Knights win. That set up a do-or-die game between SK Jizni Mesto and TJ Malešice. It would be the Jizni Mesto side that would earn a hard fought 4-3 win. Pavel Došlý had a goal and two assists while Jiří Malina earned the win.
Group B
The Bats didn’t have enough firepower to overcome a strong LCC-Radotin team. The hosts won their game comfortably in the end, 7-3. Jiří Košťál had two goals and one assist in the game while Czech International Tomáš Říha earned the win. The Salt Shakerz were far too strong for the Turku Titans, running up a 13-1 final. The Shakerz had eleven scorers register goals and James Synowiez and Robert Star each had a pair.
It would be the Bats turn to face the Finnish Titans and they earned a 3-0 victory. Petr Novak had two goals while Tomáš ?ekal earned the shutout in the Bats’ goal. That meant the last game of the group between the Salt Shakerz and LCC-Radotin was a must win for the Salt Shakerz in order to advance. It went from bad to worse as they fell behind the group B powerhouse LCC-Radotin side. A four-goal run late in the first half ended any chance of the Salt Shakers coming back. Radek Skála had a four-goal performance as Radotin prevailed 7-3 and Dominik Sika earned the win.
Group C
Top-seeded Green Gaels knocked off the German Gents 8-3 this morning. The game was tight going into the second half, but a four-goal run saw the Gaels win easily. Scott Defrancesco and Adam Derks each had a pair of goals and an assist.
LC Slavia Praha and the Landsharks had a tight game in the afternoon with the Prague side earning a 5-3 victory. Marek Brada had a couple of assists and Marek Dobrý earned the victory. The Landsharks then had a tough time against the German Gents, who enjoyed the biggest margin of victory in their history at the Ales Hrebesky Memorial, taking the game 8-2. Daniel Busse had two goals and an assist in the win. The final game in Group C saw the Gaels score seemingly at will against LC Slavia Praha. Jonas Derks had a pair of goals and a pair of assists. John Chesebrough earned a 9-1 win in the Gaels goal.
Group D
The Boston Megamen and the Old Dogs of Pilsen opened up the day’s proceedings for group D. The Megamen ran out to an 11-1 victory with Andrew Wasik scoring a hat trick and adding an assist. The Old Dogs then had to face the Nova Scotia Privateers. The Privateers continued their hot run, earning their third victory of the round robin with an emphatic 7-1 win. Brandon Newton had a pair of goals in the game and Rob Collins earned his third win of the tournament.
The marquee game of the day saw the Boston Megamen take on the Dublin Riggers. This was to determine who would advance in second place in group D. Penalties dominated this physical encounter with 34 minutes in total being assessed. The Riggers jumped out to an early 1-0 lead but a 4-0 run eventually saw the Megamen earn a tough 4-2 win. Despite the loss, Dublin Riggers goalie Mike Cregan was the star of the game, making 25 saves in the contest.
Summary
So with the round robin schedule complete we’re all set in our matchups for tomorrow. In the ‘B’ side TJ Malešice take on the Turku Titans, Vienna Cherokees will face off against the Salt Shakerz, the German Gents get the Old Dogs of Pilsen and finally the Landsharks square off against the Dublin Riggers. The ‘B’ side will be playing for ninth place.
The first quarter-final will see SK Jizni Mesto meet the upstart Bratislava Bats. In quarter-final number two, the London Knights will be in tough against LCC-Radotin. Quarter-final three will likely be the game of the afternoon with a repeat of the 2010 final when the Green Gaels meet the Boston Megamen. The final quarter-final will see LC Slavia Praha take on the Nova Scotia Privateers.
